I am a writer, editor and film photographer based in Scotland. My narrative non-fiction – focusing on place, nature and identity – has been published widely in journals and online, such as Places Journal, Ernest, Elsewhere, The Clearing (Little Toller Books), The Calvert Journal, Drawing Matter and Zoomorphic. In 2017, my fiction was shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award, and the same year I graduated with Distinction from the Creative Writing MA at Bath Spa University, where I was shortlisted for the Janklow & Nesbit Prize. I have a decade of editorial and copywriting experience, working with companies such as Hodder & Stoughton, HarperCollins, Faber & Faber, Juilliard and Ericsson. For the past four-and-a-half years, I have worked as an editor for Cornerstones Literary Consultancy.
In my place and portrait photography, I mainly uses 35mm black and white film. My eye is drawn to low sun, long shadows and sharp lines, and at the heart of my practice is the use of bright natural light and close detail to defamiliarise the world around us. My photography has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications such as Places Journal, Lodestars Anthology, Elsewhere Journal and Drawing Matter. My prints are available online and from AGITATE, Edinburgh.
